PIANO TUNING AS A CAREER

Anyone with normal hearing, average finger dexterity and a willingness to learn may choose a career of servicing pianos. Piano tuning can be taught, just like riding a bicycle. If you think that you might want to pursue this profession, William would be glad to assist you.

The Emil Fries School of Piano Tuning & Technology offers a two year coarse on piano tuning and repair. Located in Scenic Vancouver Washington it overlooks the Columbia River and Portland Oregon. The school features: blind students and instructors working in an encouraging atmosphere.

The Piano Technicians Guild is the largest organization of qualified Piano Tuners in the world. The Guild is the most varied resource for education and information in the field. Although the Guild provides primarily seminar educational classes it recognizes the Emil Fries school and retains many of their graduates as members.

Piano tuners are called to tune in: homes, churches, schools and wherever pianos may be the venue. Concert pianos are tuned for each performance and a great deal of pride can be derived from this type of work. There are resident technicians on staff of universities, music stores and working in the field. Most Tuner Technicians are self employed and enjoy the freedom of working at there own pace.
