Not every grand piano needs to be completely: restrung, refinished and rebuilt to play and sound good. The piano Boutique offers a service to evaluate your instrument where the action and keys are serviced, regulated and the piano is tuned and voiced. Every piano is different and your piano may do well with just catching up with time and where to the instrument.
The piano does not have to be moved out of your home for an action upgrade. The Piano Boutique removes the action and keys and takes the needed measurements for regulating your instrument. The workings are brought back to our shop and re worked and when it is finished the action and keys are put back into the cabinet.
Certainly all grand pianos are different, but generally they do follow a common thread. The piano Boutique uses a checklist to be sure that we service every aspect of your grand action. Generally all grand actions are: cleaned, repaired, tightened, lubricated and regulated to work there best. When the action is returned to the instrument it is tuned and voiced to play it's best.
While in the shop Hammers are cleaned and shaped for a pleasing tone. Knuckles are shaped and cleaned for good escapement. Capstan felts are cleaned and shaped for smooth regulation.
Keys can be re-topped with plastic or ivory to preserve the value of the instrument. Bushings can be eased or replaced for a good touch. Parts are repaired or replaced so the action plays as well as possible.
After the action has been: cleaned, tightened, repaired and lubricated, then it is regulated. We use racks and jigs set to the pianos specifications and regulate every key. All of this is done on an action table, specifically designed for the work.
When the work is done in the shop, the action is returned to the home and installed into the piano. Final fine attention is given to the regulation then the piano is tuned and voiced to the best of it's ability.
